What are you doing now and where?

shalom daniel addo-danso 1

I am currently working as Research Scientist with the Forestry Research Institute ofGhana (FORIG). FORIG is one of the 13 institutes under the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research with the mandate to conduct forest and forest product research. I am attached to the Ecosystem Services and Climate Change Division working on some donor funded and Government of Ghana (GoG) projects, with research interests in dynamics in mixed-species plantations, climate change impacts on forests ecosystems and dependent communities and adaptations, silviculture and ecosystem services impacts on communities.

How did FEM help you to get where you are now, or is helping you in your current position?shalom daniel addo-danso 2

Well, my current position demands a lot of critical thinking and innovative ideas toshalom daniel addo-danso 2 solve emerging challenges with possible future implications on forest management practices in Ghana and the world. One thing which I learnt during the master’s program and is still at the heart of everything I do is the use of adaptive management principles in dealing with environmental problems.

Any other information you consider relevant or interesting?

I really benefited from my two-year stay at the Freiburg University, and would relish the opportunity to come back possibly in a different capacity.
